How it is played
HOW THIS TOURNAMENT RUNS — CHAMPIONSHIP KNOCKOUT For players 1. Check the Draws tab for your match, court and time. Courts are 3 to 7. 2. Report to the official 10 minutes before your match and warm up for 5 minutes. 3. Matches are 13 games, standard scoring. First team to 7 games wins. At 6–6 the thirteenth game is a 7-point tie-break (win by two). 4. Lose your first match and you drop into the back draw — your tournament is not over. 5. Ranking points are awarded for the round you reach. See Rules & Point Calculation. For officials 1. Call the match, confirm both teams and the court, then start the clock. 2. Enter the game score for each team as soon as the match ends (and the tie-break points if it went to 6–6). 3. Use a walkover if a team does not arrive within 15 minutes of the call. 4. The winner advances automatically — never edit the next round by hand. 5. Double-check scores before saving; corrections must go through the club admin.

General club rules
These apply to every Vaal Tennis Club event unless a tournament above overrides them.
Each match is played to 7 games, standard scoring, with a maximum of 13 games. The first team to reach 7 games wins the match.
At 6–6
The thirteenth game is a 7-point tie-break — first to 7, win by two. The tie-break score is recorded alongside the games.
Both players earn the team's points
Points are awarded to the team. Both players in the pair receive the full amount, so partners always share the same points from a result.
Points are set by where you lose
A team's points come from the round it was knocked out — losing the semi-final earns semi-finalist points, and so on. The champion earns the full champion points.
Byes & walkovers
A bye (top seed auto-advancing) does not earn points on its own — it simply moves the team forward. A walkover counts as a win and advances the winner; the losing team is out and earns points for the round it was knocked out of.
Tie-breaks don't change points
The tie-break only decides the match winner. It has no separate effect on the points awarded — points depend purely on the bracket and the round reached.
A men's doubles pair wins their first main-draw match, then loses in the semi-final. They drop into the back draw and win it.
